Point-of-Sale System in Place, Lunch Prices to Remain Steady at PTSD Next Year

Here is an end-of-the-year update from the Peters Township School District regarding the nutrition program.

With the 2012-13 school year winding down, the Peters Township School District is giving area parents and students an update on the nutrition program.

First things first: Lunch prices will remain the same during the 2013-14 school year.

The lunch price is $2 for elementary students and $2.15 for secondary students. Premium lunches have remained at the $3.40 price. Lunch for students who qualify for reduced-priced lunch is $0.40.

District officials noted that they would like to begin next school yes with nobody in the red.

"We understand that it can be difficult sometimes to keep track of what your child is purchasing on a regular basis so accounts will fall into the negative from time to time. We are asking that all accounts be paid off by the end of the school year so that all of the students start off the 2013-14 year with no debts," officials said. "We typically send letters home on a bi-weekly basis to parents with students who have negative accounts, but you can call our office at anytime if you would like to know where their accounts stand."

It should also be noted that applications for free and reduced-priced meals are available at each school. Parents are asked to fill out the form and return it to the school office by the start of the school year.

As a courtesy, all students who qualified for free or reduced-priced lunches this June will remain eligible until Oct 1. After that date, students must have a new application completed and returned to the school office to continue to receive free or reduced-priced meals.
