Posted Budget Goes Up $1 Million from Last Year

Tentative technology, curriculum and capital reserve fund budgets were also approved at Monday night's Peters Township School Board meeting.

Monday night,  met for its regular monthly meeting to discuss new books, policies, committees, personnel approvals, new district positions and the upcoming year's budget.

A preliminary general fund budget of approximately $50.9 million for the 2012-13 school year was approved 8-0. School board member Lynn Erenberg was absent from Monday's meeting. The proposed budget is approximately $1.1 million higher than . 

Also approved was a tentative 2012-13 technology budget in the amount of $902,231. This number excludes salary and benefits, which have been incorporated into the general fund budget.

The board voted 8-0 to approve a tentative curriculum budget in the amount of $164,594.05 and a tentative capital reserve fund budget in the amount of $902,100. 

A food service contract with Aramark, Inc. for one year with the option to extend for one additional year—unless required to competitively bid by the PDE—was approved.

According to the district website, school taxes are at 96.51 mills, which remains one of the lowest in Washington County. 

School board members will hold a final finance committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. on June 11. The meeting is open to the public. 

The board will finalize the budget at its June 25 meeting.
