Student Awarded Scholarship by Washington Financial Bank

A Peters Township High School graduate is one of 10 local students to receive the scholarship toward higher education.

Washington Financial Bank recently awarded 10 scholarships to help local students offset the costs of higher education. A recent graduate is one of the recipients. 

Austin Pitts coaches a youth basketball team and is actively involved with Bethany Church, where he volunteered on a mission trip to an inner-city summer camp in Chicago.

The award recipient will attend Virginia Tech to study engineering this fall.

Washington Financial's scholarships are primarily based on academic achievement and community service. Each student was awarded a $1,000 one-year renewable scholarship for up to a maximum of four consecutive years.

Since the inception of this program, the company has awarded more than $425,000 in scholarships to local students.

P.J. Tatano, Chartiers-Houston High School
