'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' Director Coming to Peters

Stephen Chbosky will speak to students at Peters Township High School on Friday.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower author and film director will return to Peters Township High School on Friday to speak to students.

Stephen Chbosky was last at the school while he was filming his movie in the summer of 2011.

The highly anticipated movie, featuring actress Emma Watson and actor Logan Lerman, debuted in select theaters in Los Angeles and New York last week, and will open at AMC-Loews at the Waterfront and the Manor Theater in Squirrel Hill this weekend, according to the Post-Gazette.

If you want to meet Chbosky, the Upper St. Clair grad will take questions after the 7 and 8 p.m. shows at AMC-Loews at the Waterfront on Friday. He will also do a book signing at 10:15 p.m. and introduce the 10:45 p.m. screening.

On Saturday, Chbosky will do another book signing at 6 p.m. at the Manor. He will take audience questions after the 7 p.m. showing and introduce the 9:50 p.m. screening.

Also on Saturday, Chbosky will introduce The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Dormont's Hollywood Theater at 10:30 p.m., where some scenes from Perks were filmed.

On Sunday, Chbosky will take questions after the 2 p.m. screening at the Manor Theater in Squirrel Hill.

What do you think about Chbosky returning to Peters Township to promote his film? Tell us in the comments.

Really excited to see the film. Our son Justin Gaab , a musical theatre major at Elon University is a featured extra in the film. He worked with this director in several scenes, particulary the dance scenes.

Poorly worded question. He isn't 'promoting' his film by speaking to Peters students; he is 'paying back' the favor of using their school in the movie.

Logan Lerman looks a little like a young Paul Rudd. And they are both Jewish. Too bad Rudd is not playing Lerman's father in this film.
