Former Peters Athlete in NCAA Final Four

A former Peters Township High School volleyball player finds himself in the national spotlight.

Devin Young, a 2007 PTHS graduate, is the starting middle blocker for the Brigham Young University's men's volleyball team—the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

BYU will take on No. 4 Penn State 11 p.m. Thursday in the tournament's Final Four and will be live streamed on NCAA.com. The championship match is 9 p.m. Saturday and is scheduled to air on ESPNU.

Young was a three-year letterman and senior class valedictorian at PTHS. He had no intention of playing volleyball at BYU, but the day before classes began his freshman year, Young was spotted at a volleyball tournament and encouraged to try out for the team, according to the Observer-Reporter.
