Library Hosts Tailgate Party to Kick-Off Visit by 'The Steelers Encyclopedia' Author

Mark your calendars for the Steeler-themed event that will be held on April 24.

It may be hockey and baseball season in Pittsburgh, but the Peters Township Public Library knows there are Steeler fans anxious for the start of football! 

For those die-hard fans to get pumped for the upcoming season, the library will host a Steelers tailgate party with a special guest —Chuck Finder, author of "The Steelers Encyclopedia."

This family event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 24.

Finder was a sportswriter and columnist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for 25 years covering the Steelers in Super Bowl XXX, XL, and XLIII. He will be sharing Steelers’ history through first-hand accounts.

Copies of "The Steelers Encyclopedia" will be available for purchase at the special-event price of $22 (normally the book costs $34.99).

Activities planned for the whole family will be part of the evening’s tailgate party from 6:30-7:15 p.m.:

  • Steeler game DVDs on the large screen, music, displays and decorations
  • Refreshments including hot dogs, snacks and soft drinks
  • Favorite games such as corn hole and ladder golf
  • Raffle to win a Steelers prize basket (winner must be present).

Finder will discuss his book and experiences with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 7:15-8:15 p.m.

A book signing will follow at the conclusion of the program.
