Mylan Classic Starts This Week

Tickets to the Mylan Classic cost $25—and 100 percent of proceeds go to local charities.

Officials from the Mylan Classic and the Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency have anounced the final schedule of events for the 2013 Mylan Classic. 

The Mylan Classic’s seven-day schedule of events which begin Monday, July 29 and end with the final round on Sunday, Aug 4. 

As a community event, the Mylan Classic offers both championship golf and entertainment for the whole family.

Weekly tournament tickets for the Mylan Classic are priced at $25 and include admission for the tournament itself as well as the concert series, clinics, evening entertainment and special events during tournament week. 

Tickets are being sold through a unique and innovative initiative known as the ANSYS TICKETS Fore CHARITY program. Through this program more than 200 participating non-profit organizations are selling tournament tickets and retaining 100 percent of the proceeds as well as a percentage of the bonus pool.

The GNC Celebrity Pro-Am is just the kickoff to the weeklong Mylan Classic.  

The celebrity pro-am will test the golf skills of local sports celebrities such as University of Pittsburgh Men's Basketball Coach Jamie Dixon, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Lynn Swann, former Pittsburgh Penguin Bob Errey are just a few of the celebrities participating in the event. 

Also on Monday Washington Health System Women's Day presented by PNC and Dr. Pepper will take place at Southpointe Golf Club. The annual women's event includes a clinic hosted by Carol Semple Thompson and Missie Berteotti, followed by a networking event and women's health fair. 

On Tuesday, July 30, California University of Pennsylvania will host a youth clinic at 6 p.m. free to all kids. Also that evening, the Mylan Classic along with Golf Galaxy and PNC will host a private event to honor Arnold Palmer. 

"A Tribute to the King" will be an evening to celebrate the career and life of Mylan Classic honorary chairman, Arnold Palmer. The event will include an exhibit of items from Mr. Palmer's personal collection, silent auction, guest speakers and fireside chat with Arnold Palmer. The exhibit will also be on display to the public during the tournament, Aug 1 through Aug 4.

Wednesday, July 31 the Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati Pro-Am will host two events, with tee times at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by an evening reception. Professional practice rounds for the Mylan Classic participants will also be played throughout the day. 

The Mylan Classic officially tees off at 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 and live coverage on the Golf Channel beginning at 12:30 p.m. (check cable provide for channel listing). 

The Hilton Garden Inn will host the fourth annual Energy Symposium on Thursday. The Energy Symposium will focus on the opportunities and challenges of the energy industry in Western Pennsylvania. Scheduled to participate are state Sen. Tim Solobay, Secretary of Department of Environmental Protection Chris Abruzzo and more.

The evening will end with a 7 p.m. concert by Doo Wop legends Pure Gold at Southpointe Golf Club.

The Mylan Classic continues with Round two on Friday, August 2 with tee times beginning at 7 a.m.and live coverage on the Golf Channel beginning at 10 a.m. (check cable provide for channel listing). Web.Com, umbrella sponsor of the Tour will host a Small Business Forum from the Hilton Garden Inn beginning at 8 a.m. The day's events will conclude with a concert by 80's tribute band Bon Journey at approximately 7 p.m. at Southpointe Golf Club. 

Round three of the Mylan Classic begins at 7:36 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 with live coverage on the Golf Channel beginning at 2:00 p.m. (check cable provide for channel listing). Saturday will also be Military Appreciation Day, all military personnel, active, reserve, veteran and retired along with their dependents will be given free admission into the Mylan Classic. 

Free lunch will be provided to all military personnel at the Military Outpost located by the 15th green. The Mylan Classic concert series concludes Saturday night at The Meadows Racetrack and Casino when country music star Ronnie Dunn takes the stage at 8 p.m.
