Peters Baseball Pony League Wins Championship

The 14A Peters Township team defeated Washington Tuesday.

The Pony League baseball team won its championship Tuesday. The team defeated Washington, 8-3, in the Washington Tournament held at Lew Hayes Field. 

The win was a precursor to the Pony League World Series qualifiers. 

A total of eight teams competed. Peters and two additional teams are now attempting to qualify for the Pony League World Series scheduled for Aug. 18.

Pitcher Philip Mary was the winning pitcher—pitching a complete game, including 14 strikeouts. And, Conor Manning hit a two-run home run.

Parents and community members alike are hoping this is a preview of what's to come during the series next month, they said.
