Peters Hockey Advances to Penguins Cup Final

The Indians advance to the Penguins Cup Final after defeating rival Canon-McMillan, 6-4, Wednesday night.

Peters jumped out to an early lead after the first period, 4-2, against Canon-McMillan. In the second period, the Big Macs got to within one, making the score 4-3 Peters. 

Patrick Hannan scored his second goal of the night, with an assist by Trevor Recktenwald, increasing the lead to 5-3.

Davan Groom then capitalized on a big night by netting his third goal to complete a playoff hat trick, putting the Indians in control 6-3. 

The Big Macs added a final goal to make it 6-4, but it wouldn't be enough—Peters Township hockey heads to compete against the Bethel Park Blackhawks for the Penguins Cup Championship at 6 p.m. Saturday at Consol Energy Center.
