Peters Township to Face WPIAL Powerhouse Central Catholic

Senior Andrew Erenberg will lead his teammates against his former, freshman team—Central Catholic—in the WPIAL first-round matchup tonight at Fox Chapel.

Last week, he told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, “We’re in a pretty good seat. We have to win—take care of our end of the bargain—and let the chips fall.”

Peters Township varsity football (4-5) will face Central Catholic (9-0) at 7:30 p.m. at Fox Chapel High School in the WPIAL first-round matchup.

Central Catholic is the No. 1-ranked Class AAAA team in the state, and is ranked No. 1 in three other state polls. The undefeated team is ranked 15th nationally by USA Today.

Playoff seedings and pairings were announced Monday night, where the WPIAL playoff committee ranked Central as the No. 2 seed—North Allegheny being the defending AAAA champs.

During last week’s game against Canon-McMillan, Peters victoried 46-27; Senior had 106 yards rushing by halftime.

The son of , he holds Peters Township career records in rushing yards (3,125), touchdowns (45) and scoring (272 points).

Erenberg will reunite with familiar faces Friday night; As a freshman, he started in the backfield for Central Catholic’s football team.

Last month, he committed to Division I-AA Fordham University. The 5’10, 220-pound senior ranks eighth in the WPIAL.

Regarding last week's game against Canon-McMillan, senior Grant Taylor told Patch, “We played our assignments, flew to the ball and believed in ourselves.”

The WPIAL playoffs conclude Saturday, Nov. 26 with four championship games at Heinz Field.
