Viewfinder: Tennis Fun Day

The Peters Township Tennis Center celebrates its fifth annual Tennis Fun Day.

Hot dogs and hamburgers were grilling, music was playing and the kids were lining up to take their swing at the Peters Township Tennis Center's fifth annual Tennis Fun Day.

The kids were treated to some free lessons, contests and prizes, food and refreshments.

Tennis center supervisor Steve Happe said, "We hold this event every year. It's a way to give back to the community."

Emily Gotkiewicz, Nicole Folino, Morgan Happe, Chloe, Joe and Matthew Grzyb all took home ribbons for competing in a ladder challenge in the first few matches of the week.

The fun, family event did take a solemn moment , the pro shop manager who passed away May 8. The tennis center dedicated a tree in his memory and invited friends, family and co-workers to eulogize the devoted grandfather and devoted tennis player. Read the full story in the link above.

After the dedication ceremony, the kids went back to playing tennis and taking advantage of a free day on the courts.
