Mt. Lebanon Native to Host Photography Exhibition Fundraiser for Clean Water

The Samburu Project, a Santa Monica based nonprofit founded by Mt. Lebanon native Kristen Kosinski, will host a unique photography exhibition to raise funds to drill freshwater wells in Africa and to create awareness of the World Water Crisis. The event will be held in Carnegie on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 7-9 p.m. at the Papa J’s Garden Piazza.

Every day 4,500 children die worldwide due to the lack of access to clean, safe drinking water. The Samburu Project provides a simple solution to this extraordinary problem. Since 2006, The Samburu Project has drilled 40 wells in Samburu, Kenya, benefiting 40,000 people through the provision of clean water, ending their lifelong struggle to find this precious resource.

In August, San Francisco photographers Rudi Dundas and Chris Majors traveled to Samburu to document The Samburu Project’s work and how the organization has profoundly changed the lives of the Samburu people. The Face of Water harnesses their creative vision and spirit. The Face of Water: An Exhibition of Photography will illustrate the importance of water as captured through the touching photographic stories of the Samburu well communities. 

The event will feature a special music performance by Ron Wilson & Jeff Grubbs Duo, a video installation and extraordinary large-scale photograph exhibition produced by The Samburu Project founder Kristen Kosinski, and event sponsors ADOBE Foundation and Pictage together with the Manny Silverman Gallery.

Following this event, the exhibition will continue to tour the United States through the end of 2012 in an effort to fundraise and create awareness around the World Water Crisis.
