Thanks Roger! I am *still* learning my way around the township after covering CM for so long. Thanks…Read More so much again!

Roger - Excellent point. The story has been revised with my thanks.

I don't think that this case will go anywhere as, if I'm remembering correctly from an article…Read More written in November, the Pittsburgh Zoo exceeded the safety requirements during it's review a few months before the incident. It's an unfortunate accident. Hopefully parents will be smart enough to either not have their small child stand on a handrail overlooking a pen of wild animals or at least keep a firm grip on said child to avoid another tragedy.

Uh-huh - somebody didn't study! What wonderful role model did they have to use this as an…Read More excuse?????

A bike theft, storage unit break-in, phone fraud and a stolen statue. Is that really a myriad? I…Read More count four. Even if you count the storage unit event as 5 events, you are still at eight. Which is not even double-digits - and far, far, short of "countless or extremely great in number". Apparently hyperbolic headlines make for more page clicks. Looking to the right, I see "... Traffic Disaster". How many people died in that disaster? None? How many vehicles damaged? None? How many injured? None? Where is the flippin disaster?! What words is Peters Patch going to use when a REAL disaster strikes? Or if/when there really are a myriad of thefts to report? Does PP have another level of exaggeration to go to?
How about some reasonable references, PP? Like "4 minor thefts reported over a 2-week period". Or "Abundantly cautious school evacuation momentarily snarls traffic - briefly inconveniencing hundreds". Maybe you would get a few less clicks ... but you wouldn't have sold all remnants of credibility for 35 cents worth of ad-views.

Tell me again why the poison called "alcohol" is still legal and pot is not?

Really? Perhaps your opinion would be different if you truly experienced the grief of losing someone…Read More at the hands of a drunk driver. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for one's actions? Drunk drivers deserve to be penalized, not enabled by providing a "ride" due to lack of poor self-control. Kudos to the police department!

How much "discouragement" is needed to curb drunken driving? Of those choosing to drive…Read More while drunk does NOT know that such actions are wrong?
"Safe ride home" or similar programs merely encourages more of the same. These folks know there is no consequence for their actions, and would have reason to believe they can merely "catch the next ride home." Police officers are in place to enforce laws, not provide transportation services.
The penalties for DUI are way too lax. Penalties need to involve the families of those involved (e.g. impounding of the vehicle). They are the ones who have the most influence to prevent such actions in the future.
DUI is one of the most selfish actions anybody can do in the public arena. It is an action that is all about me, my wishes, and my satisfaction.

I would agree BUT there is no local taxi service in this area. Yeah, people shouldn't be drinking…Read More and driving, but without other options they are likely to take the risk and drive after a few beers.

I can only imagine what they have been through!! I hope to God my kids don't go down that path!! I…Read More hope she gets the help she needs!!

No one should ever judge with or without the facts. No one knows what her and her family have been…Read More through. I commend her mother for being strong enough for doing what she did. This country does need help with the drug situation, God bless our police for the drug busts and for trying to keep drugs off the streets.

I agree with the first part of your comment. But, the country does not need help with the drug…Read More situation. It is the people of our country that are the problem.
Education abounds, but yet many choose the path of drugs. The users know the negative outcomes. They understand the consequences of using drugs. External means are not effective. The problem needs addressing from the inside out. People need to understand why they are seeking an escape. They need to understand why they are trying to escape. Drugs appears to be an easy way out, despite knowing the end will be a wreck. What was the reason for seeking an escape for this woman (not wanting/expecting an answer)? Until she knows the answer, nothing much will change.
