Lee Doty, of McMurray, died Monday, Feb. 11 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Mina Doty; father of Lee Thomas (Marie) Doty, Parker James Doty, Karen (Mark) Stopperich, Barbara (Richard) Edgar, and the late Bruce Phillip Doty; grandfather of Joshua, Renee, Derek, Kim, Scott, and Tammy; great-frandfather of Lindsay, Nicky, Mitchell, Alexis, Sean, Amanda, Holland and Landon; brother of the late Virginia (Paul) Brand; uncle of Dorothy (Bill) Harr, Nancy (George) Madison, and the late Bob Brand. Doty spent many years in the optical business, retiring to Sandbridge Beach, VA and eventually returning to McMurray. Funeral services will be private. Rev. Dr. Jacob Henry Breakiron, 92, of McMurray, formerly of Carmichaels, died on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Georgetta (Woodward) Breakiron; a loving father of Esther "Sue" (Russel) Wert of Davidson, N.C., Karen Page of Edinburg, P.A., and Diane (David) Altieri of Canonsburg; a cherished grandfather of Kristen (Dan) Wert Kaplan, Kimberly (Matt) Wert Schrader, Stephen (Sonya) Wert, Michael Bacorn, Tammy Bacorn, Bradley Altieri, and Stefanie Altieri; brother of the late Grace, John, James Elmer, Alice, and Lloyd. Ruth F. Nirella: Age 98, of Cecil Township, formerly of Carnegie, on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Nirella; loving mother of Russell J. Philip Scarsella, 83, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, peacefully in his sleep. A long-time resident of Peters Twp., many years were spent there raising his family. He was a graduate of Geneva College. Phil retired from Washington Steel after 35 years. Phil was previously married to Dorothy Scarsella, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Philip J. (Judith) Scarsella of Cary, N.C., Paul J. (Linda L.) Scarsella of Bethel Park, Denise A. (Elbie) Yaworsky of Ambridge, Debra (Patsy) Pitzarella of North Strabane, and Diana (Sgt. Maj. Patricia Ann Eiter, 79, of Peters Township, died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Eiter. The Derkosh family of Whitehall Borough is asking that interested parties, in lieu of flowers, give toy construction trucks to be donated to a children's Christmas charity in the memory of 2-year old Maddox Derkosh, who died at the Pittsburgh Zoo on Sunday. The trucks will be accepted at Derkosh's funeral Mass at St. Bernard Church in Mt. Lebanon at 10 a.m. on Friday, according to Maddox's obituary on the William Slater II Funeral Service website. Before Friday's funeral and toy trucks collection, friends will be welcomed for a viewing of Maddox at the Slater Funeral Service in Scott Township from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter died Sunday morning due to complications from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Specter was 82. The Pennsylvania senator was elected to the Senate in 1980 and served for 30 years, which is longer than any other Pennsylvania senator. He lost the seat in 2010, after switching from the Republican to the Democratic party. Specter suffered a number of illnesses over the past two decades.
