Downtown Pittsburgh Transforms Into Snowy Gotham City

Filming of the "The Dark Knight Rises" took place in downtown Pittsburgh Wednesday.

Workers in downtown Pittsburgh got to catch a glimpse of the filming of the new Batman movie during their lunch break today. Production workers blew fake snow all over the roads to make it look like winter. "Gotham" license plates were placed on the back of vehicles used in the film, including a bus. The Dark Knight Rises, featuring Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway, began filming in Pittsburgh on July 29. The movie will arrive in theaters Summer 2012. Please upload your Gotham City photos to Peters Patch! This story originally appeared on Upper St. Clair Patch.

Holy Filming, Batman!

The bat signal was clear Wednesday night as the City of Champions transformed into Gotham City.

This was the scene Wednesday night at Fifth Avenue Place in downtown Pittsburgh—the glowing symbol calling for Batman beaming from the Highmark Building, changing from neon green to white.  "The Dark Knight Rises," starring Christian Bale, is filming in Pittsburgh through mid-August. If you spot any Batman moments, catch them with your camera and email them to andrea.bosco@patch.com! We definitely have Batman fever at Patch.
