UPDATED: Six Places to Avoid Because of PennDOT Projects This Weekend

UPDATE From PennDOT: Work on the ramp connecting the Liberty Bridge (Route 3069) to northbound I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard) has been canceled this weekend.  The ramp will remain open. PennDOT is working hard to finish up several key projects as the road construction season winds down. There are six areas where it will be slow going this weekend. At the top of the list is the McKees Rocks Bridge, which will be closed from Friday night through Saturday evening. Click on our interactive map which shows which areas to avoid.

Here's a roundup of PennDOT work around the area this weekend.

Banksville Road work isn't done yet! PennDOT will continue milling and paving work on Banksville Road this weekend, which will affect those heading to Pittsburgh from Peters Township via Washington Road. Drivers can expect single lane closures between Carnahan Road/Wenzell Avenue and Beverly Road from 8 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday. There's more: Parkway West/Fort Pitt Bridge: The ramps that connect the Fort Pitt Bridge (I-376) to Commonwealth Place/Liberty Avenue and the Boulevard of the Allies in the City of Pittsburgh will be closed from approximately midnight on Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday. Banksville Road Improvements Begin Next Monday

If you're traveling to town, there will be overnight and weekend traffic restrictions.

You may live in Peters Township, but is Banksville Road part of your regular commute?  A $4.7 million project to improve Banksville Road (Route 19) in the City of Pittsburgh, Dormont and Mt. Lebanon will begin weather permitting on Monday, June 4. The project includes milling and resurfacing, culvert improvements, drainage, guiderail, curbing and traffic signal and signage upgrades on 2.4 miles of Banksville Road from the Parkway West (I-376) to McFarland Road. Overall work will conclude in December, according to PennDOT.
