Rev. Dr. Jacob Henry Breakiron, 92, of McMurray, formerly of Carmichaels, died on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Georgetta (Woodward) Breakiron; a loving father of Esther "Sue" (Russel) Wert of Davidson, N.C., Karen Page of Edinburg, P.A., and Diane (David) Altieri of Canonsburg; a cherished grandfather of Kristen (Dan) Wert Kaplan, Kimberly (Matt) Wert Schrader, Stephen (Sonya) Wert, Michael Bacorn, Tammy Bacorn, Bradley Altieri, and Stefanie Altieri; brother of the late Grace, John, James Elmer, Alice, and Lloyd. Patricia Ann Eiter, 79, of Peters Township, died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Eiter. Joseph Edward "Sonny" Grzeczka of Peters Township died Friday. At 74, he was the beloved husband Barbara Grzeczka; loving father of Barbara (Chuck) Kalanish, Joseph (Debbie) Grzeczka and Lori (Dan) Prokop; pap of Ryan and Devin Kalanish, Corey (Ashley) and Shila Grzeczka and Danielle, Justin and Dylan Prokop; great-grandpap of Madisyn Faith Grzeczka; and dear brother of Ruth Maiella. The McMurray resident graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1950 and was a veteran of the Korean War.
H. Kenneth Giles Jr. of McMurray, 84, died Monday after a short illness. A native of Philadelphia, he attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1950. He then served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. At the conclusion of his tour of duty, he joined Bell of Pennsylvania, now Verizon, where he held various management positions, moving to western Pennsylvania in 1960. After 35 years with the company, he retired in 1988. He joined Shiloh Industrial Contractors, Inc. of Lawrence, PA, that same year, where he served as controller for eight years. Since 1998, he has been a volunteer chaplain at the Allegheny County Jail. Giles was the beloved husband of Charlotte N. (Stauffer) Giles of Allentown, PA for 54 years; …

Local singer Mary Lou Koon, of Peters Township, died Monday. She was 71. Koon was the beloved wife of Dennis; loving mother of Joe (Anna) and Cyndi (Matt) Holm; and sister of Edward Dishart. She sang in St. Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church's choir. Peters resident Carol Foley died Tuesday afternoon.
Peters Township Chamber of Commerce Director Carol Foley died Tuesday afternoon. The news came unexpectedly. She did not attend Peters Township Community Day two weeks ago, which came as a shock to many Peters residents. This year marked her 25th year as chamber director. In March, she told Patch she felt so blessed to be in this community. "Peters is a great place to live, work and play,” she said. “People care about their kids and what goes on here. It’s a good community.” With her leadership, the chamber grew to more than 400 members, which makes the organization one of the largest in the region.
