On May 9, South Hills Village Mall will host a free event featuring relaxation and fun in honor of national "Mom's Nite Out," sponsored locally by Pittsburgh Magazine. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments, entertainment and fashion and beauty services and will find information on mom-friendly organizations and events, all focused on rewarding mothers. Cowtastic Frozen Yogurt, formerly known as Moo Moo's Frozen Yogurt, has a new location in Bethel Park. The second shop officially opened on March 7 in the South Park Shops, according to its Facebook page. If you want to check out the new spot, plug this address in your GPS: 5209 Library Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102 The hours are Monday through Friday, noon until 9 p.m.; Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday noon until 9 p.m. The phone number is 724-260-5562. The first Cowtastic Frozen Yogurt opened in Peters Township a year ago. The shop was forced to change its name from Moo Moo's to Cowtastic after a store in Greenbrier, AK claimed the Peters business was infringing on its trademark.

The missing man was from Waynesburg but worked on a river boat owned by Tri-River Fleeting in Pittsburgh.
Robert Elmer Allison of Waynesburg, Greene County, worked on a river boat owned by Tri-River Fleeting, which is currently listed on West Carson Street in Pittsburgh. Allison reportedly left work on Dec. 21, 1994 and was headed for a bar in the west end of Pittsburgh. All of this belongings were found on the boat and he has not been seen since. Sources that list his disappearance say he was last seen "leaving Tri-River Fleeting in Bethel Park near Pittsburgh" but it is questionable as to why a river business is listed in Bethel Park. He was 42 years old at the time of his disappearance. Allison is described as being a white male with brown eyes and wearing glasses, brown hair and a fair complexion; about 5 feet, 9 inches; and 170 pounds. He…

St. Clair Hospital has opened a new “state-of-the-art” Breast Care Center in Bethel Park that is designed to ease the stress of examinations and surgical procedures. The new facility on the third floor of St. Clair’s Outpatient Center across from South Hills Village opened Monday and is serving the South Hills community. Relaxing photos of flowers and the beach hang on walls with soothing colors. “It’s a whole change in atmosphere,” St. Clair spokesman Bob Crytzer said. “That’s a big part of the attitude.” All services that include mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, consultation and surgery can be performed at the outpatient center. The Peters Township frozen yogurt shop is being forced to change its name.
The field has been narrowed to five in the competition to find a new name for Moo Moo Frozen Yogurt. The finalists include: The Peters Township shop is being forced to change its name because Moo Moo's Yogurt Bar in Greenbrier, AK claims Moo Moo Frozen Yogurt is infringing on its trademark. Owner Frank Chao decided to turn to his customers to come up with a new name for the shop. Customers submitted ideas on index cards last month. The person who suggested the winning name will receive a $100 gift card. Chao is also working on opening a second frozen yogurt location at the South Park Shops in Bethel Park. Former Piccolina's employee Dave Sgro now co-owns a brand new restaurant in the area. Slate Bistro opened in August—replacing Cafe Georgio on Donati Road in Bethel Park. After cooking Italian for most of his life, Sgro said he was ready to be more adventurous. "I've always had an interest in world cuisine," he said. "We want to use our imaginations as much as possible." Steaks, chops, seafood, ravioli and gnocchi—the menu caters to everyone. "It's all hand cut and freshly made," Sgro said. Port Authority will replace the rail crossing at Bethel Park’s West Library Station this weekend, detouring T service and impacting local auto traffic. Detours will be in effect from Friday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. until about 4:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 6. During this time, Blue Line-Library service will terminate at Lytle, where Peters Township riders may transfer to shuttle buses operating between Lytle and Library. Riders should allow for extra time when traveling. Regular T service should be restored before the start of morning service on Aug. 6, as stated in a release.
