Flu Season Starting Early, Vaccines Still Available

There are a number of nearby pharmacies customers can visit for flu shots.

The Post-Gazette reports that flu season in the U.S. is off to its earliest start in nearly a decade and that the primary strain circulating is particularly hard on the elderly. If you haven't gotten your flu vaccine, it's not too late. The following local pharmacies offer flu vaccinations without appointments: The Allegheny County Health Department recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine. Certain people are at greater risk of serious illness and death from flu: Persons who live with or care for people at high risk for developing flu-related complications should also receive influenza vaccine. News Nearby: CVS May Build New Store

Representatives from CVS met with Upper St. Clair planning commissioners to discuss the possibility of demolishing Crossgates Plaza and building a new store.

Yes, there already is a CVS on the corner of Route 19 and Fort Couch Road. However, CVS officials may build a new store kitty-corner from the existing location. Representatives met with the Upper St. Clair Planning Commission on April 19 for a pre-application conference. They said they are looking into demolishing the Crossgates Plaza complex and constructing a new store, according to the township's director of Community Development Scott Brilhart. CVS's current building would then be available for other businesses to lease. Crossgates Plaza is home to a variety of businesses right now including Einstein Bros Bagels, Boston Market, Healthy Pet Products and Chyten Education Services.
