Running backs coach Kirby Wilson is being treated for serious burns at a Pittsburgh hospital after fire sweeps through his home near Cranberry.
Kirby Wilson, the running backs coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is being treated today for injuries after neighbors roused him from his burning townhouse early this morning in Seven Fields. Cranberry Township police and firefighters from Adams Township, Cranberry Township, Callery, Harmony, Zelienople and South Butler were dispatched to the blaze at 2:42 a.m. in the Estates of Seven Fields, a townhouse community. Neighbors said smoke was pouring out of the house at 141 Jameson Way, and a maintenance man for the complex said a stove in the kitchen may have caught fire. Kirby Wilson, the running backs coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is being treated today for injuries after a fire early this morning swept through his townhouse in Seven Fields. Firefighters responded to the blaze at 2:30 a.m. to the Estates of Seven Fields, where Wilson lives in a townhouse at 141 Jameson Way. Neighbors said smoke was pouring out of the house after a stove caught fire in the kitchen. Wilson, who was the only person in the townhouse, was badly burned. A neighbor who smelled smoke called 911, then pounded on the door of Wilson's home until Wilson answered it. Wilson was burned on his arms and legs and was wheezing from apparent smoke inhalation. WPXI-TV is reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson was "badly burned" in a house fire in Seven Fields, Butler County early Friday morning. He was flown to a Pittsburgh-area hospital. It was unclear which facility is caring for the coach—Mercy Hospital, The Western Pennsylvania Hospital and UPMC-Presbyterian did not list him as a patient. There is no word on his condition. It's time to cheer on the Pittsburgh Steelers before their first playoff game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. A “Break the Broncos Rally” will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 6, around the Terrible Tree in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse. Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl are asking those attending the rally to support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank by bringing a canned good, non-perishable food item or cash donation.
