Peters Library Preps for Potluck Dinner

PTPL's GO Green and Cooking clubs are seeking dishes derived from locally grown gardens to take part in the fete.

It's here! It's here! The third annual Potluck Dinner at Peters Township Public Library is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 3 at 6:30 p.m.  Hosted by PTPL's GO Green and Cooking clubs, this savory supper is open to all Peters Township residents.  In an effort to celebrate the season's bounty and locally grown goods, attendees are asked to bring a potluck dish made with samples from home gardens to share. The library asks you share your recipe, too—unless it's kept sacred in some sort of vault of course. Last year, Susan Torisky of Canonsburg made mulberry muffins from the mulberry tree in her yard. GO Green President Jennifer Garrett served up a dish with green and yellow beans, tomatoes from her garden, and garnished it with a dressing made of …

The GO Green Camp for Kids at Peters Township Public Library is scheduled for June 12, 13 and 14.

It's open to children entering grades 3 to 5 in the fall.  The three-day camp will offer a different topic each day, and participants can sign up for one, two or all three days of the program. The camp was an idea that GO Green Club President Jennifer Garrett has wanted to pursue for some time. “I have always felt that the best way to teach the community about environmentally-conscious living would be through the kids," she said in a statement. "They would take the information home, share it …
