Trade In Old Holiday Lights For LEDs

The deal at Home Depot runs through Wednesday.

A number of Peters Township residents took advantage of the weekend's warm weather and put up their holiday light displays. But did any of you find broken light sets while you were getting into the Christmas spirit? You may want to know about the deal Home Depot has going on through Wednesday, Nov. 14. Customers can bring in their old working or non-working Christmas light strings to be recycled and receive coupons from $3 - $5 off the purchase of energy efficient seasonal LED string lights. Putting up Christmas lights this weekend—too early or smart idea? Tell us in the comments.

Viewfinder: It's Hammertime at Home Depot

Children learned do-it-yourself and tool safety skills while building an ESPN message board Saturday.

Sarturday's project at Home Depot, children learned do-it-yourself and tool-safety skills while building an ESPN message board. Parents assisted their small children in the project. Two-year-old Harry Marchewka III, was one of the enthusiastic builders. The young boy brought his own hammer. He carried the small tool around like a security blanket. Sawyer Weinmann, 5, diligently hammered in the tiny nail for the project. The Weinmann family has attended several of Home Depot's monthly workshops. His mother, Lisa Weinmann, said, "He likes this. Last month he made a pencil box for his first year at kindergarten. I think that was his favorite project." Home Depot offers a free monthly event for the DIY kids.
