Peters Girls Lacrosse Wins WPIAL Championship!

The Lady Indians defeated Pine-Richland, 21-18, Thursday night winning their fourth championship since 2007.

Peters Township girls lacrosse (16-4) seized the WPIAL title Thursday night after a big 21-18 win against Pine-Richland (16-3). The team hasn't held the title since 2009, but also held it in 2007 and 2008. Goals were scored by Hannah Wilcox, Alison Hurley, Sarah Bootman, Rachel Berquist, Catlin Carey and Torrey Schwartz. Both Mel Morgret and Sarah Kronket played in goal while Hannah Dray, Emily Kipling, Katie Denning, Rachel Windmeuller and Izzy DiGnazio provided exceptional defense.  The game was a nail biter right from the opening whistle with Pine-Richland scoring the first two goals of the game. Excellent teamwork helped Wilcox score three goals in the first half. Peters Softball Beats the Odds

The Peters Township girls' softball team is a section 'co-champ' for the first time in 21 years.

By Jessica Berardino With a current record of 15-4, the Peters Township Lady Indians' softball team has matched its history by being the second team to make it to the WPIAL playoff semi-finals.  The team is a section "co-champ" for the first time in 21 years. On Thursday, the Indians defeated Seneca Valley High School in the Class AAAA quarterfinals game at Woodland Hills. Senior pitcher Tara Konopka held a no-hitter until the sixth inning with six strikeouts. Konopka gave up one run, two hits and one walk for the game. A tough defense stood strong behind her to help earn the victory.  A strong left side blocked many key hits from leaving the infield. Lady Indians Make History, Share Thoughts

Hear from a few of the female state soccer champs following Saturday's historical win.

By: Shane Dazen The Peters Township Lady Indian soccer team captured its second consecutive state championship on Saturday against Pennridge. It is the first time in which a female soccer team has defended its previous title in Pennsylvania state history. Although the Lady Indians were outshot 15 to three, they made the most of an early tally by sophomore striker Veronica Latsko at the 21-minute mark of the first half. Taking a pass from freshman Laurel Carpenter, Latsko weaved through two defenders before netting the eventual deciding goal. Stingy defense and a spectacular effort by sophomore goalkeeper Megan Parker helped to preserve the 1-0 victory over the seventeenth ranked team in the nation, according to the National Soccer Coaches …
