Four teachers performed a rock concert to promote an anti-bullying message.
A place residents normally go to read and study turned into a rock 'n roll venue Wednesday night—all for a good cause. Librarians, police officers, teachers and local families united at the Peters Township Public Library to combat bullying. About 50 students gathered in the lobby to learn what bullying is and how they could stop it. Students took a pledge to stop bullying—promising to speak up, reach out and be a friend. Linda Esposito, the children's librarian, organized the event. "Bullying is worse than it's ever been, particularly cyber bullying," Esposito said. The annual Frosty's Fun House and Tree Lighting/Holiday Party is Dec. 2.
'Tis the season! The entire Peters Township community and surrounding area are invited to the annual Frosty's Fun House and Tree Lighting/Holiday Party on Saturday, Dec. 2. Frosty's Fun House is from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center. Children ages 10 and under are invited to make holiday crafts families can cherish forever. Parents are asked to remain with their children during the event. The fee is $5 for residents and $8 for non-residents. The fun continues at 6 p.m. when the Tree Lighting/Holiday Party begins at the Peters Township Municipal Complex. Listen to holiday carols and see Santa arrive on the shiny fire truck. You can take courses for free right from your laptop, thanks to the Peters Township Public Library.
'Tis the season for New Year's resolutions and if you're one of the many people out there who want to make learning your 2011 objective, you're in luck. In conjunction with Recorded Books and Universal Class, the Peters Township Public Library recently debuted the newest edition to its extensive catalog of resources -- free online classes in over 500 different subjects. Thanks to the Friends of the Peters Township Public Library, these non-credit continuing education classes range in topics both practical like Business Math, Physics and Conflict Resolution, to the creative and far-out like Yoga, Landscaping and Creative Writing. It is good to know that there are lots of people are now comping up to stand against bullying this would give parents as well as student's knowledge about bullying signs. As a parent, I have been aware of these bullying issues in schools around the state and I don't want my kids to be victims of such or worse potential bullies.
