The McMurray store owner had a difficult time choosing the new name.
Moo Moo Frozen Yogurt is changing its name to Cowtastic. It's taken about six months of going back and forth with attorneys to find a name that wouldn't cause any legal issues, according to owner Frank Chao. Chao was forced to change the name because Moo Moo's Yogurt Bar in Greenbrier, AK claimed Moo Moo Frozen Yogurt infringed on its trademark. A customer named Betsy submitted the Cowtastic choice and won a $100 gift card to the McMurray froyo shop. "We want to thank her for coming up with the name," Chao said. The name transfer will happen during the next few weeks. The Facebook website is down as it is being changed. Other than the signage and logos, nothing else will change, according to Chao. The field has been narrowed to five in the competition to find a new name for Moo Moo Frozen Yogurt. Owner Frank Chao decided to turn to his customers to come up with a new name for the shop. Customers submitted ideas on index cards last month. The person who suggested the winning name will receive a $100 gift card. Chao is also working on opening a second frozen yogurt location at the South Park Shops in Bethel Park. The new Peters Township business won with 58 percent of the vote.

The business opened two months ago in McMurray Towne Centre next to Starbucks. The froyo joint won with 58 percent of the vote. Bruster's Ice Cream came in second with 21 percent of the vote. It's not hard to find frozen treats in Peters Township, especially with the recent addition of two new frozen yogurt shops: Moo Moo Frozen Yogurt and Swirlie Whirlie. Frozen yogurt, ice cream, slushies, icees, Frostys, gelatis, Italian ice, frozen custard ... the list goes on and on. Where do you go to get a cool treat on a hot day? The new Peters Township business opens Sunday, following Saturday's soft opening.

Moo Moo Frozen Yogurt in McMurray officially opens Sunday at 11 a.m., following a soft opening held Saturday evening where community members who stopped by got to taste for free. Located in the heart of Peters Township, the new froyo business in McMurray Towne Centre—off of Valley Brook Road—offers a simple, self-serve experience, and myriad flavors and toppings. The new business in McMurray Towne Centre is hiring!
The self-serve frozen yogurt trend continues to pop up in cities nationwide, and now it's hitting close to home. Moo Moo Frozen Yogurt is set to open in mid-March, according to owner Frank Chao. The froyo hub is located next to the drive-thru Starbucks in McMurray Towne Centre on Valley Brook Road. Chao hails from Fort Lauderdale, FL, where the first and only other Moo Moo is located. The business will offer 12 flavors of fat-free yogurt and 38 different toppings. Chao said he plans to open two more locations in Pittsburgh in the near future. And, he's hiring!
