Search Is On For Next Peters Township Superintendent

The school board hopes to have someone in place by August.

The Peters Township School Board is hoping to have a new superintendent in place by the beginning of the 2013-14 school year in August. Director David Hvizdos revealed that there was a closed meeting with the hired search firm on Feb. 14. The ad has been posted for the job (see below) and the board plans on organizing focus groups to find out what the community wants to see in the next superintendent, according to Hvizdos. Hvizdos said the first round of interviews are expected to take place on March 19 and 20. Peters Township Selects Superintendent Search Firm

The Peters Township Board of School Directors last night voted to appoint the Chester County Intermediate Unit under the direction of Executive Director Dr. Joseph O’Brien to oversee the district’s superintendent search. Under the terms of the agreement, O’Brien will work in collaboration with Charles Mahoney, Executive Director of Intermediate Unit 1, to complete the search. Other superintendent searches overseen by O’Brien and the Chester County team are: Garnet Valley School District, Unionville-Chadds Ford School District, Owen J. Peters Township School District Offers Sympathies

The president of the school directors and acting superintendent release a statement.

Peters Township School Board President Cindy Golembiewski and acting Superintendent Joseph Dimperio issued the following statement over the weekend: On behalf of the Board of School Directors and staff members of the Peters Township School District, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families who lost children and loved ones at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday and to the entire community of Newtown, Connecticut for their devastating loss. Our sincere thoughts and prayers will be with them all in the coming days and weeks.
