Sun Chevrolet, Three Rivers Corvette Club Hosting Car Show

Proceeds from the all-American car show will benefit the local food bank.

Sun Chevrolet of McMurray and the Three Rivers Corvette Club are teaming up to bring the community an all-American car show over the Memorial Day weekend. The show will take place at Sun Chevrolet (located on state Route 19 just north of Valley Brook Road) on Sunday, May 26 and is open to all American-made cars. Spectators are welcome and may attend at no cost. Those entering a car are asked to make a donation of $10. Proceeds will benefit the local food bank. The gates will open at 9 a.m. and the show starts at 10 am. The first 100 cars will receive a dash plaque. Residents Petition Peters Township Council for Street Light

No action was taken Monday by council.

Editor's Note: This story was updated at 8:41 am. to correct information on the type of light requested. More than 50 residents have signed a petition asking Peters Township Council to consider the installation of a dusk-to-dawn street light in their neighborhood. While the petition asking for the light at Brookwood Road and Abbey Brook Lane was presented to council Monday, no action was taken. However, council directed the township administration to contact property owners in the area to solicit opinions on the issue, according to Tom Gromek, assistant to the township manager. "We are a connector street with vehicle traffic of 1,100 and 1,500 cars a day and a general lack of lighting in the area," the petition reads. "There is a curvature…

Peters Township Hockey Club Schedules Summer Ice Hockey Clinic

Register now for the six-week clinic.

The Peters Twp Hockey Club is holding its 5th annual summer ice hockey clinic at Bethel Park Blade Runners. The clinic will run for six weeks and will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5. Sessions will be held every Wednesday, and led by USA Hockey-certified coaches. The session are geared for beginners to advanced—for kids in pre-school through middle school.   Organizers not that full equipment is required, and that spots are first-come, first serve. Cooler Temperatures, Frost, Expected in Peters Township Today

But no worries: Warmer weather is on its way.

It's not exactly going to be a flip-flop and shorts kinda day. According to the National Weather Service, the Peters Township area will see mostly sunny skies today, but the high temperature will be just 53. And that's not all: Just like last night, areas of frost after 1 a.m. is expected. Otherwise, Monday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Those anxiously awaiting warmer spring weather won't have to wait long, though. Tuesday is expected to be about 63 degrees—with even more pleasant temperatures expected later in the week. Increased Housing Options, Walkability Among Goals for Peters

A committee has drafted the township's goals for its next comprehensive plan.

The Plan Peters Steering Committee, which is working on the township's next comprehensive plan, has identified its goals, including increased housing choices and walkable neighborhoods. The following are the top goals of the plan identified through many months of meetings and focus group discussions. The committee will meet again on May 29 and 30 to continue the goals discussion and to begin formulating action steps.
