A turning lane will be installed at the entrance to St. Clair Hospital's outpatient facility.
Monday marks the start of roadwork at the entrance to St. Clair Hospital's outpatient facility currently under construction. The Peters Township project, along Route 19, is being completed by Gulisek Construction, LLC to install a turning lane and upgrade traffic signals. The roadwork is anticipated to be complete by Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31. During construction, nightly lane restrictions will be in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. Getting from Peters Township to your destination may be challenging this weekend as crews perform maintenance and repair work on some of the area's busiest highways. I-579 Veterans Bridge Ramp improvements Traffic on the northbound I-579 Veterans Bridge approach to the Parkway North (I-279) will be reduced to a single lane from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. on Monday. Crews will be replacing expansion dams. Single lane traffic will occur between the off-ramp to Route 28 and the Parkway North. You may live in Peters Township, but is Banksville Road part of your regular commute? A $4.7 million project to improve Banksville Road (Route 19) in the City of Pittsburgh, Dormont and Mt. Lebanon will begin weather permitting on Monday, June 4. The project includes milling and resurfacing, culvert improvements, drainage, guiderail, curbing and traffic signal and signage upgrades on 2.4 miles of Banksville Road from the Parkway West (I-376) to McFarland Road. Overall work will conclude in December, according to PennDOT. East McMurray Road, near Center Church Road, will be widened and a traffic signal will be added—construction starts April 2.
Peters Township residents will soon be enjoying a wider and safer intersection of East McMurray and Center Church roads. East McMurray Road will be widened to provide right and left turning lanes at the intersection of South Center Church Road, and a left turn lane at the intersection of North Center Church Road. In addition, a new traffic signal will also be added to the South Center Church Road intersection. "This is a high priority project of Peters Township," said township Manager Michael Silvestri. With all the construction and roadwork congesting morning commutes, PennDOT officials are reminding drivers that there’s a way to make planning your rush-hour drives a little easier. Drivers can register to receive traffic and roadwork press releases directly from PennDOT. Information about particular roadways and projects also is available. Several roads and projects that could be part of your commute—such as the Liberty Tunnel Improvement Project, for those in Peters Township—are included on the list. Northbound onramp at Bridgeville exit will be closed until mid-November.
PennDOT has closed one of the Bridgeville onramps leading to Interstate 79. The onramp leading to I-79 North from Route 50 closed Monday night and will remain that way until mid-November as crews work on the ramp's bridge connecting to the interstate. Only motorists traveling east on Route 50 from South Fayette toward Bridgeville will be affected by this closure. The northbound ramp on the other side of Route 50 next to Gillece will remain open. None of the exit ramps in that area will be affected. One lane on I-79 near the Bridgeville exit will also closed at all times while crews continue to do work in the area. Whatever happened to the plan to control the traffic lights from Waterdam through Peters? I can get on 19N at Waterdam and hit EVERY red light from there to Valley Brook at a low traffic time like 7AM on a Sunday morning. Ridiculous, intolerable, inexcusable.   more ›
