Mark Anton was remanded to the Washington County Jail Thursday.
Cecil Township police charged a Peters Township man with theft by unlawful taking on last week. The charges against Mark Anton, 55, were filed Wednesday, online court records show. Cecil police said Anton stole utility trailer containing 500 feet of aluminum wire owned by West Penn Power, according to the Observer-Reporter. The Washington County Jail list indicates that Anton was arrested on a parole violation. He is awaiting an arraignment before district Judge Valerie Costanzo, online court records show.

Only PV PM kindergarten is cancelled.
Peters Township School District officials have cancelled afternoon kindergarten for Pleasant Valley Elementary students due to a power outage. Bower Hill Elementary kindergarten will go on as scheduled Wednesday afternoon. More than 1,300 West Penn Power customers are without power in Peters Township due to the morning's severe storm. Crews in Upper St. Clair and Bethel Park restored power by 1:25 p.m. Friday.
All power is back on in Upper St. Clair and Bethel Park after a fallen tree caused a major outage late Friday morning. The outage began at 10:51 a.m. and affected 650 customers, according to West Penn Power. Bethel Park police told Patch the outage affected the "whole north end of Bethel Park." A number of traffic lights were out along Washington and Fort Couch roads, causing for some confusion amongst motorists. Businesses in Norman Centre II were without power. South Hills Village was also affected by the outage; its Internet was not working. All power was restored at 1:25 p.m. Were you affected by this power outage? Tell us in the comments. Single lane closures Monday through Friday will continue until the current part of the project is complete, PennDOT says.
So by now you've noticed the orange cones and steady stream of single-lane traffic at the crest of the hill where East McMurray and Center Church roads meet. The project, which began in April, is being done to improve safety of the intersection. In March, we reported, East McMurray Road will be widened and a traffic signal will be added. It will be widened to provide right and left turning lanes at the intersection of South Center Church Road, and a left turn lane at the intersection of North Center Church Road. The new traffic signal will be added to the South Center Church Road intersection. The $871,916 project, being completed by A. Liberoni, Inc., will be complete in late October—tentatively Oct. 26. Customers in Peters, Canonsburg, Cecil and North Strabane are without power Saturday afternoon.
A number of residences in the area are without power Saturday afternoon. The West Penn Power website estimates that about two dozen customers are without power in Peters, 995 in Canonsburg, 600 in North Strabane and 278 in Cecil. A West Penn spokeswoman said the power outage was the result of a downed wire on Morganza Road. She said crews are on the scene to repair the damage, and that service would be restored in blocks as soon as possible. Stay tuned to Peters Patch for more information.
