When you're getting dressed tomorrow, remember the folks at Canonsburg General Hospital and the Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township want you to 'go red' in recognition of the fight against heart disease. But that's only the beginning. A 'Go Red!' event is slated from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 28 at both Canonsburg General Hospital and the Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township. The heart-health awareness event will include information, screenings, demonstrations and door prizes. Canonsburg General Hospital welcomes Dr. Victor Prisk to the Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Institute at its Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township. Prisk, an NCAA All-American gymnast from Iowa State University and Michigan State University, graduated with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. During his fellowship training, Prisk specialized in dance medicine and sports foot and ankle surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery of Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. Spring sessions for Tai Chi for Arthritis at the Outpatient Care Center in McMurray—160 Gallery Drive—are scheduled to start March 14. This six-week program is designed to help individuals suffering from arthritis relieve pain and swelling with exercise and meditation, a release states. Tai Chi is an activity that improves balance, strength and coordination while teaching relaxation helping patients who experience stiffness and discomfort associated with arthritis. Diabetic Education classes will be held at the Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township from 1-2:30 p.m. during the month of February. The classes are as follows: Canonsburg General Hospital officials said they hope to unite people who are coping with diabetes and to share information. The classes are free of charge and open to diabetics and their families. The center is located at 160 Gallery Drive in McMurray.
