MAPS: Do You Know Which U.S. House Rep Is Yours?

Congressional lines were redrawn in January.

U.S. congressmen and women are elected to public office by residents of the districts that they represent. But those districts' shapes and residents can change, as they did on Jan. 3, this year, in accordance with shifting demographics. The U.S. House's District 18 of Pennsylvania, for example, which is represented by Republican Tim Murphy, once included all or parts of several municipalities that it no longer encompasses. Baldwin Borough, Baldwin Township, Brentwood Borough, Crafton Borough, Dormont Borough, Green Tree Borough and Wilkins Township are examples of those. But each of those municipalities are now part of Democrat Mike Doyle's 14th District, meaning that some residents are being represented by a member of an entirely …

U.S. Reps Murphy, Kelly Accepted Contributions from NRA in 2012 House Campaigns

Open Secrets has published a list of recipients of National Rifle Association campaign contributions that also includes outgoing U.S. Reps. Mark Critz of Johnstown and Jason Altmire of McCandless, both Democrats.

U.S. Reps Tom Murphy (R-Upper St. Clair), Mark Critz (D-Johnstown), Jason Altmire (D-McCandless) and Mike Kelly (R-Butler) of Pennsylvania accepted thousands in 2012 campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.  The NRA doled out more than $750,000 in campaign contributions in 2012, according to the center, a research organization that tracks money in politics and how it affects elections and policies and shares the information on OpenSecrets.org. The center obtained its data from the Federal Election Commission.  Fifteen members of Congress from Pennsylvania accepted contributions from the NRA during their 2012 bids for office, according to the center's list.
