The Powerball jackpot was boosted to $550 million, or a $350.1 million cash prize for the Saturday, May 18, drawing after none of the tickets sold Wednesday matched the winning numbers. The multi-state mega-lottery had rolled to a $475 million value after Wednesday's drawing, but increased by $75 million Thursday afternoon as a result of strong ticket sales. The $550 million jackpot is the second-largest jackpot in the game’s history. The largest was won last Nov. 28, 2012, when a $587.5 million jackpot was shared by two tickets sold in Arizona and Missouri. Someone in the Pittsburgh area might be $1 million richer. The Pennsylvania Lottery says one of the winning Powerball tickets worth $1 million was sold at the Shop’n Save in Raceway Plaza. The ticket for Saturday night’s drawing matched all five white balls but missed the red Powerball. The winning numbers for Saturday night’s drawing are 15-23-40-44-55, and the red Powerball is 14. The Pennsylvania Lottery is asking the winner to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at Lottery headquarters in Dauphin County, or at any of Lottery’s seven area offices. The historic Powerball jackpot rose to a record $500 million on Tuesday and many Peters Township residents are expected to purchase a ticket Wednesday—if they haven't already. According to the official Powerball website, there are 28 places to purchase a ticket in Peters Township. For those with a 15317 zip code, click here to see which retailer is closest to your home. Others with a 15367 zip code, the Cogos at 801 E McMurray Rd. or The Country Store at 698 Venetia Rd. are the closest locations. There has been no Powerball winner since Oct. 6.
