I'm going to turn off this commenting thread, just as its started to devolve and get off-topic. Even though we allow anonymous commenting, let's at least try to keep it polite and related to the topic.
Thanks,

Hello,
I don’t cover police in Bellevue borough (nor, for that matter, do any Patch reporters in Pittsburgh).
Looks like Andrew Gribben, who is a member of the Moon Board of Supervisors, was charged with DUI on July 1, 2012 in Bellevue, according to court records.
One of the charges (DUI with highest rate of blood alcohol content) was withdrawn in district court, another charge (making an unsafe u-turn) was dismissed. The other charges were adjudicated; for the other two charges, he was to take part in six months in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, according to court records.

If you're fit to drive, then you have nothing to worry about during a checkpoint. While you can probably overlook a lot of other kids of 'illegal' activity, driving while intoxicated endangers other motorists. So (now that I can have an opinion), I have no problem with checkpoints. It's not a 'police state tactic' it's a basic public safety effort, in my mind.
