The work consists of roadway realignment of the intersection and work on four structures that include two bridges and two retaining walls in Peters Township.

During construction, Valley Brook Road and Old Washington Road will be detoured using Mayview Road, Boyce Road and McMurray Road.

In addition, there will be periodic lane closures on Route 19 so that the contractor can tie in the new ramp realignment and the install new traffic signals.

Silvestri said the township is also working to identify throughways that motorists will use as short-cuts, and plan to install signage in those area.

"We know people will find other ways to get around during the construction," he said.

The project is expected to be completed in late July 2014.

Silvestri acknowledged that there would be headaches for motorists and businesses in the area.

"It's a project that needs to be done," he emphasized. "And I think people realize that."

The contractor on this $4.9 million project is Gulisek Construction Co.
