Major Flooding Reported in Peters Township

First responders in Peters Township confirm that there is major flooding in the area.

The Peters Township Fire Department was handling a dozen emergency calls as of 9:30 a.m., although no further details were immediately available.

Peters Township police Chief Harry Fruecht said that areas of Valleybrook Road got hit hard—and that some residents in the area have feet of flood water in their homes.

He issued a word of caution to local folks who are out and about Wednesday morning.

"People need to realize they need to be careful when they are driving through water. If you don't know how deep it is, don't drive through it. You could get stuck," he said.

Residents on Bebout Road and businesses on East McMurray Road reported that water was pervading the roads and their back yards there, as well.
Further information was not immediately available Wednesday morning.

Check back with Peters Patch for more details as they become available.
