Budget With Tax Hike Approved At Peters Township School District

The Peters Township School Board on Monday approved a 2013-14 budget that includes a 1.7-mill tax increase.

The 53.3 million dollar spending plan passed by a vote of 6-3.

Directors Lori Cuervo, David Paul Hvizdos and Lynn Erenberg voted no.

They did not offer comment prior to or after they cast the dissenting votes.

The board also passed a motion designating $8 million in surplus funds for paying off future debt and increases in the employer contributions to the Public School Employees Retirement System.

Of that amount, $3.5 million has been earmarked for debt and $4.5 million has been allocated for pension contributions.
