Dan Rooney to Talk Book at Peters Twp. Public Library

Advanced registration is required to attend.

The Peters Township Public Library will welcome Dan Rooney and Carol Peterson on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the book that they co-authored, Allegheny City: A History of Pittsburgh's North Side.

Rooney will explain the role of the Pennsylvania Railroad in the landscape, share comments about famous North Side families and describe his faith in the future of the neighborhood. Peterson will provide details about the architecture and ethnic groups of the North Side.

Copies of the book will be available for signing and purchase after the discussion.

Register to attend by emailing programs@ptlibrary.org or by calling 724-941-9430. Due to limited seating, advanced registration is required to attend this event. Registrations will be confirmed at the door. There is no cost.

Rooney will not be available to sign Pittsburgh Steelers or NFL paraphernalia during this event or to pose for photographs.

Rooney is a longtime North Side resident who recently retired from the post of United States Ambassador to Ireland after nearly four years to return to his job as the chairman of the Steelers. He is the author of Dan Rooney: My 75 Years with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the NFL.

Peterson is an architectural historian who specializes in the buildings, homes and communities of Pittsburgh. She resides in the city's Lawrenceville neighborhood.
